We provide humanitarian action for the hardest-to-reach and most vulnerable.

In the wake of Hurricane Beryl, REACT quickly deployed a team to the region to gather information and establish whether Responders could support the ongoing response.

REACT has been supporting Ukrainians affected by war for over two years. This support has been delivered in a number of ways, meeting the urgent humanitarian need at any given time. Currently, REACTs support is focused on the provision of incident management training. This has been developed in consultation with our local partners in Ukraine and our medical advisor. It intends to furnish members of local groups and organisations, as well as the wider population, with the knowledge and skills to prepare themselves for the unfortunate reality of exposure to shelling or a drone attack. People who take part in the training learn how to keep casualties alive until they are evacuated to definitive medical care. We have focused on delivering this training in areas near the contact line where risk exposure has become an everyday occurrence. The training has so far been delivered in Kharkiv, Mykolaiv (with attendees from Odessa), Zaporizhia, Kherson, Dnipro, Nikopol and Marhanets and our partners in Ukraine are identifying further areas in need of such training.

We continue to monitor the evolving situation, gaining increased understanding and awareness about our capability to support potential operational partners in situ. We have now had specific conversations with four potential partners – two within the UN system and two International NGOs. Conversations at this time are focussing on where REACT may be able to add immediate-term strategic support. Our thanks to REACT Responder Chris Rose, who is travelling in the Middle East and has been able to facilitate communications.
