The recent flooding caused by the breach of the Kakhovka dam in southern Ukraine has led to a severe humanitarian crisis. Thousands of adults and children have been evacuated, and around 40,000 more are in need of immediate help. The displacement of landmines also poses a real threat. After a recent visit, REACT has formed an agreement with its trusted local partners, to quickly provide hot food and clean water to those who need it.

REACT's involvement in Ukraine dates back to March 2022 when a small team was deployed to assess the needs of the increasing flow of refugees. Since then, REACT has been working closely with a number of local organisations to provide support where most needed. One such partner is the Ukrainian Education Platform (UEP), which has repurposed its resources to provide aid and support to those affected by the conflict. Another is Myrne Nebo, who also provide humanitarian aid and support. REACT is actively responding to the flooding crisis in Ukraine by collaborating with both UEP and Myrne Nebo to supply and distribute nutritious hot food and water purification systems to those displaced by the floods.

Building these relationships with partners on the ground enables REACT to use the expertise and local knowledge of trusted partners, ensuring an efficient and effective response. By joining forces, they can consolidate the humanitarian response, share valuable insights, and tailor their efforts to meet the specific needs of affected communities, quickly.

We continue to need your support to meet the urgent needs of those affected. Your contribution will not only provide immediate relief, but also bring hope to people during their time of crisis.
